The lineman told the Forth Worth Star-Telegram that he has gone an entire week without swelling for the first time since his surgery and he's "getting ready to play" in this weekend's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

If Spencer does play, snaps will likely be limited. According to Pro Football Talk, he practiced with the Cowboys' second team Wednesday while George Selvie continued to man the starting spot.
Spencer was initially expected to miss just 2-4 weeks after undergoing surgery in July. Several setbacks later, and it's still unclear exactly when he will return. Prospects look good for Week 3 against the St. Louis Rams if Week 2 is ruled out, but Spencer's rocky recovery suggests that it isn't wise to put an estimate on his timetable.
Spencer signed the Cowboy’s franchise tender in the offseason, making him one of the highest-paid defensive ends in the league at $10.6 million this season. He had 11 sacks among his 95 tackles as an outside linebacker last season, but his transition to defensive end in Monte Kiffin’s 4-3 Tampa-2 defense was considered one of the keys to the Cowboys’ success this year.
