Broncos vs. Giants, Week 2: Denver, Peyton Manning beat up on brother Eli

Big Blue View’s Ed Valentine believes the Giants are leaning on their past accomplishments just a little too much:

The Broncos, on the other hand, are among the most successful teams of the season thus far. While their high-scoring offense will get a lot the credit, the Broncos’ defense has played very well over the last two games. In fact, Mile High Report’s Kyle Montgomery believes the secondary was the major reason for the Week 2 win:

Kansas City used a much improved defense to stifle the Cowboys in the second half, limiting Jason Garrett’s team to a pair of field goals. The Chiefs scored 10 points in that time, just enough to eke out a win at home in all-red uniforms.

The result? Nothing doing, and a field goal to make the score 13-7. In the game, Bryant had nine catches for 141 yards and a score.

It wasn’t seven touchdowns, but the elder Manning beat his younger brother in the head-to-head matchup, 41-23.

The unsung heroes of Sunday’s game will be the Broncos’ defensive backs. They did an excellent job covering a talented group of Giants receivers and intercepting Eli four times in the victory. The addition of Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was a sage one and could be what puts the Broncos over the top this season.

“This one wasn’t like that. I saw a couple of flashes,” he told Youngmisuk. “Everyone said it looked like I caught the Holy Ghost because my arms were out. It is definitely a scary feeling.”

Safety Antrel Rolle is listed as questionable heading into the weekend as well, but he’s also expected to play according to Coughlin.
