Broncos vs. Giants 2013: Denver’s secondary picks off Eli Manning 4 times

Manning Bowl III ended with Peyton’s Broncos picking up a blowout victory.

The Broncos headed to the Meadowlands for a clash with the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon. The game proved to be a success for Denver as they trounced New York with the score of 41-23. Broncos' quarterback Peyton Manning lit up the Giants defense while the Broncos held Eli Manning in check and secured four interceptions.

The Giants' performance was eerily familiar to their sloppy effort in Week 1 against the Cowboys. New York is 0-2 and their hopes of a playoff berth are already starting to slip. While there is plenty of season to play, there needs to be more of a sense of urgency from the veteran Giants' roster.

Big Blue View’s Ed Valentine believes the Giants are leaning on their past accomplishments just a little too much:

The Giants need to stop living on past glory. There were admissions by players that last season they spent too much time waiting around thinking simply that because they had made a magical late-season run in 2011 that it would naturally happen again. It didn’t.

Sunday night there was a lot of brave talk about how the Giants had been here before, how they were better than an 0-2 team, how there are 14 games to go and they would keep grinding to get it right.

The Broncos, on the other hand, are among the most successful teams of the season thus far. While their high-scoring offense will get a lot the credit, the Broncos’ defense has played very well over the last two games. In fact, Mile High Report’s Kyle Montgomery believes the secondary was the major reason for the Week 2 win:

Overall it was the Broncos defense that kept the Giant at bay. They overcame some really terrible officiating, and a handful of Giants big plays, with a consistently stout effort. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Rahim Moore, Chris Harris Jr., and Tony Carter all came away with interceptions that helped the Broncos pull away.

The Broncos will host the Raiders on Monday Night Football in Week 3 while the Giants hope to rebound against the Panthers on the road.
