Aaron Rodgers torching Redskins, RG3 and offense blanked in 1st half

The Packers are blowing out the Redskins and Rodgers is the main reason why. RG3 hasn’t helped Washington much, though.

Even after an inadvertent fumble by James Jones at the goal line to end the first half, the Packers offense is having a Lambeau Field day against the Redskins. Aaron Rodgers is 26-of-31 for 335 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. That's 50 yards more than Rodgers has ever thrown in a first half during his nine-year career.

The Packers lead the Redskins at halftime, 24-0, as a result of Rodgers' play, though Jones has had a pretty great game himself with nine catches for 152 yards. As much as Rodgers can take credit for Green Bay's success, one imagines Robert Griffin III blaming himself for Washington's goose egg.

The Redskins quarterback is 6-of-13 passing for 107 yards, no touchdown and one interception, while he’s ran the ball one time for two yards. It is a far cry from the incredible rookie season that RG3 posted a season ago when he totaled 27 touchdowns as Washington won the NFC East title. The Redskins could be starting out this season in an 0-2 hole, and Griffin already has three interceptions on the year after throwing just five of them as a rookie.

He has also ran for just 26 yards on six carries this year after gaining 815 yards on the ground in 2012.

Is it just a bad day at the office? Is the knee injury from the playoff loss to Seattle bothering or altering Griffin’s play, or have defenses figured out the zone read offense? Both that and Rodgers’ potentially record-setting play will be worth watching.

He's only 73 yards shy of a career-high in yards with 30 minutes to go. Maybe the only thing that could stop the Packers QB is an appearance from Seneca Wallace if Griffin can't lead the Redskins back.
