Jaguars vs. Raiders 2013 injury report: Maurice Jones-Drew hurts ankle in loss

The Raiders lost safety Tyvon Branch to a “significant” ankle injury, while the Jaguars may have dodged a bullet with running back Maurice Jones-Drew.

The Raiders were able to pull of a win over the visiting Jaguars in Week 2. Coming into the game, the Jaguars were without starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert and starting cornerback Dwayne Gratz. The Raiders, on the other hand, were without rookie tackle Menelik Watson on Sunday.

For the Raiders, the home win was not without its casualties. According to ESPN, starting safety Tyvon Branch left the game in the first quarter with an ankle injury. He needed help to get off the field, following the injury that happened on a blitz on third down. He did not return to the game. Following the game, Silver and Black Pride writer Levi Damien quoted head coach Dennis Allen saying that the Branch injury was "significant."

On the Jaguars' side, a loss was given even more weight with potential missed time for running back Maurice Jones-Drew. The starting running back left the game in the second quarter with an ankle sprain and did not return. According to Ryan O' Halloran of the Florida Times Union, an MRI on Jones-Drew's ankle came back negative. There is no word yet on how long the former Pro Bowler will be out of action.
