Andre Johnson injury: Concussion unlikely to keep Texans star from Week 3

Houston’s star receiver isn’t expected to miss any games after suffering a concussion on Sunday.

Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson isn't expected to miss time after suffering a concussion in the fourth quarter of Houston's 30-24 overtime win over the Tennessee Titans, according to the Houston Chronicle blog.

Johnson was crushed by Titans safety Bernard Pollard, who has a history of injuring star players with typically-clean hits. In 2008, Pollard famously took out New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the season opener when he lunged for the future Hall of Famer and tore his ACL.

Last year in the AFC Championship Game, Pollard put a devastating hit on Patriots running back Stevan Ridley, knocking him out and causing a huge fumble. No penalty was assessed on the play. A year earlier in the AFC Title Game, Pollard hit Rob Gronkowski in the ankle, taking him out of that game and limiting him in the Super Bowl.

However, Texans tight end Owen Daniels didn't feel like Pollard's hit on Johnson was above board:

“I’ve never seen a more blatant blow to the head. A big miss by the officials, especially for a guy like Andre. I know you have to protect every player, especially someone like him.”

Houston plays next Sunday on the road against the Baltimore Ravens.
