The Texans sit dangerously close to an 0-2 start, despite their perfect record thus far, while the Ravens have yet to look anything like the playoff team that won the Super Bowl last season. Which AFC team takes a big step forward this Sunday when Houston heads to Baltimore?
NFL picks and predictions, Week 3: Texans vs. Ravens 2013
Houston is dangerously close to an 0-2 start. Can the Texans continue their luck in Baltimore this weekend? Here’s what the experts had to say.
The Houston Texans entered the season as AFC heavyweights, but have needed a last-second field goal against the Chargers and an overtime touchdown against the Titans to get to their 2-0 record. If things had gone slightly different, they would be looking for answers to a winless beginning. Luckily for them, they have two wins, but they obviously still have some things they need to work on. They continue that journey in Week 3 at defending champion Baltimore.
The Ravens did not enter the playoffs last season looking like much of a contender, but four straight wins got the franchise its second Super Bowl victory. Key player departures, including Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Anquan Boldin, have Baltimore looking quite different on paper, but a blowout loss to the Broncos and squeaking out a victory over the Browns have the Ravens looking much different than a defending champion.
Still, five of eight experts at CBS Sports have the Ravens winning at home this week. Writer John Breech is one of the three to take the Texans on the road.
Both experts at Yahoo! Sports went with Houston, while a full nine of 13 experts at ESPN are picking the Texans.
Ryan Van Bibber, NFL editor at SB Nation, picks the Ravens to cover the three-point spread.
