Indianapolis Colts' general manager Ryan Grigson pulled off a huge trade on Wednesday, acquiring second-year running back Trent Richardson from the Cleveland Browns for a 2014 first-round pick, and he's excited for what the young running back brings to the team.

Grigson says he believes Richardson has barely scratched the surface of who he is going to become, according to the Indianapolis Star. Per the piece:

“I know the numbers,” Grigson said. “But the yardage is there. You see it when you’re watching the film. Obviously if you have a guy that’s your main threat in the offense, that’s who defenses are going to key up. Trent isn’t even near his ceiling. We’re talking about the third pick in the draft and that’s not because he’s a ham-and-egger.”

Richardson was the third overall pick in the 2012 draft and gained 950 yards in his rookie season, setting a rookie franchise record for an organization that has featured greats such as Jim Brown and Leroy Kelly.

The Colts were in rough shape at the running back position. Starter Vick Ballard went down with a torn ACL in practice, leaving free agent pickup Ahmad Bradshaw to carry the load.

Indianapolis' new back will have a tough test right off the bat with the San Francisco 49ers waiting on him in Candlestick Park.
