Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush has yet to be cleared by doctors to return to action after suffering a knee injury last week, but is "optimistic" that he will be able to take the field Sunday against the Washington Redskins, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.
Reggie Bush injury: Lions RB ‘optimistic’ he’ll play, but needs doctors’ clearance
Bush says the knee injury he suffered last week won’t sideline him this Sunday against the Redskins.

Bush spoke to WXYT-FM 97.1 on Wednesday morning, when he stated that he didn’t expect the injury to keep him sidelined very long.
“I feel a lot better than I thought I was going to be feeling at this point in time. My knee feels pretty good. It’s a day-to-day thing right now. Thankfully, I avoided anything serious that might have required surgery or being out for a long period of time.”
Bush took a helmet to the knee during the second quarter of last week’s 25-21 loss to Arizona, knocking him out for the remainder of the game.
The eighth-year pro, who spent the last two seasons in Miami before signing with Detroit over the offseason, missed practice on Wednesday. If he is unable to suit up on Sunday, the Lions will likely use a revolving door of Joique Bell, Theo Riddick and Mikel Leshoure.
