Bears fear Henry Melton suffered torn ACL

Justin K. AllerThe Bears believe they may have lost one of their best defensive players for the season. The organization fears that Pro Bowl defensive tackle Henry Melton tore his ACL late in Sunday night’s game against the Steelers, according to Brad Briggs of the Chicago Tribune.

Gregory ShamusIn the end, Jay Cutler and the Bears did just enough when it counted to put the game out of reach late in the fourth quarter. But the Bears’ defense scored two touchdowns of their own to sway momentum in Chicago’s favor and collected a total of five turnovers in the game.
The 17-point margin of victory wasn’t a strong indicator of how close the game was late, but the Bears improved to 3-0 in convincing fashion and remain atop the NFC North. The Steelers, meanwhile, fell to 0-3.

Then Peppers’ defensive touchdown just minutes later further buried the Steelers and locked up the win for the Windy City.

US PRESSWIREMelton was declared out for the rest of the game by the Bears, according to NBC’s Michelle Tafoya. The star defensive tackle lied on the ground in pain for several minutes and was removed from the field by a cart.
The Bears currently lead the Steelers 27-23 in the fourth quarter.
