Jaguars vs. Seahawks 2013: Seattle easily won ‘as expected’

Surprising nobody, Jacksonville was ruined by a dominant Seattle team which improved to 3-0.

In a battle between perhaps the NFL’s best team and certainly its worst, the Seattle Seahawks trounced the Jacksonville Jaguars at Qwest Field on Sunday afternoon.

Despite falling behind 31-0, Jacksonville at least fought throughout the entire game under first year head coach Gus Bradley. Many places in Las Vegas had the Seahawks favored by 19 points for good reason as they easily covered the largest spread of the season.

Russell Wilson had a big day through the air, connecting on four touchdown passes before being pulled in favor of Tarvaris Jackson. Seattle also rolled up 156 rushing yards including a 4.3 yards per carry average.

Over at Field Gulls, Jacson Bevens wrote about the ease of the Seahawks’ win:

It sounds douchy to say that a 28-point win went as expected but that's the world we live in with the Seahawks and the Jaguars. Seattle walked, ran, skipped, tipped, somersaulted, and flew over a beleaguered Jags team that appeared to simply be looking for moral victories.

The only player on Jacksonville who had a nice day was wide receiver Cecil Shorts III, who caught eight passes for 143 yards. The Jaguars did nothing in the run game, gaining 51 yards on 24 attempts.

Adam Stittes of Big Cat Country touched on the road ahead for Jacksonville:

As has been said in the first two weeks and will continue to be said, the rebuild of the franchise is going to be a process. Nothing is going to come easy and we’re going to see a lot more games like this before it gets better.

Next week, the Jaguars host the Indianapolis Colts while Seattle travels to take on the Houston Texans.
