Carolina Panthers running back Kenjon Barner returned to practice on Tuesday. It's his first practice session since getting an ankle injury in the preseason. The Panthers are on a bye this week, giving the rookie a chance to make his NFL debut against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5.
Jonathan Stewart, Kenjon Barner close to return for Panthers
The Panthers are getting some help back at running back in the coming weeks. Kenjon Barner returned to practice Tuesday and Jonathan Stewart is on track to return in Week 7.

Fellow running back Jonathan Stewart remains on track to return in Week 7. Stewart was placed on the regular-season PUP with ankle injuries, making him ineligible for the first six games of the season. Stewart has been dealing with the ankle issues for most of the offseason and did not participate in training camp.
DeAngelo Williams has been handling the bulk of running duties with Stewart and Barner out. He is third in the league with 291 rushing yards and is averaging 20 carries per game. Stewart is expected to split the carries with Williams once he comes back, with Barner alternating change-of-pace snaps with Mike Tolbert.
