Nate Burleson injury: Lions WR eyes November return

The wide receiver expects to return to the Lions before December after being injured in a car accident Monday.

Lions' wide receiver Nate Burleson hopes to be back on the field in November following surgery on his broken arm, according to ESPN's Ed Werder. The veteran injured his arm in a car accident on Monday night while reaching for pizza that was falling off the passenger seat in his car.

The surgery was performed on Wednesday to fix two broken bones in Burleson’s arm. He will not be placed on injured reserve, but is expected to miss several weeks while he recovers from the injury. Through three games this season, Burleson has 19 catches for 239 yards. He is in his 11th season and has been with the Lions for four years.

With Burleson out of the lineup, the Lions will rely on the likes of Patrick Edwards, Ryan Broyles and Kris Durham across from Pro Bowl wide receiver Calvin Johnson.

The Lions will host the Bears in Week 4 at 1 p.m. Sunday on FOX.
