Bears vs. Lions 2013 final score: Detroit defeats Chicago, 40-32

The Lions took advantage of multiple Chicago turnovers to defeat the Bears. Both teams are now tied atop the NFC North

The Detroit Lions dominated the Chicago Bears, 40-32, to improve to 3-1 on the season. The Bears lost their first game of the season and are now tied with the Lions at the top of the NFC North.

Both teams struggled to find the endzone early, exchanging field goals in the first quarter. That changed in the second quarter, when Matt Forte scampered 53 yards down the sidelines untouched to give Chicago a 10-6 lead.

The Lions came back with 24 unanswered points. Matthew Stafford scored on a goal line plunge in which he nearly lost the ball, and Jay Cutler threw an interception on his next pass. Stafford cashed in by hitting Calvin Johnson from two yards out, putting the Lions up, 23-10. Reggie Bush added to the lead with a dazzling 37-yard run. The Bears got a last-minute field goal, but the Lions led at halftime, 30-13.

The Bears tried to mount a comeback in the third quarter, getting a field goal and a Major Wright interception to set them up. However, the Lions got the defensive play of the game when Ndamokung Suh stripped-sacked Cutler. Nick Fairley picked up the loose ball and ran it in for a touchdown. A David Akers field goal gave the Lions a 40-16 lead, which was more than enough to hold off a late Bears surge.

Fantasy studs and duds

Reggie Bush came back from a knee injury to rack up 173 total yards and the touchdown. Alshon Jeffery was a pleasant surprise, leading the Bears with 107 receiving yards and a touchdown.
