New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith has played like a rookie to start the Jets' Week 4 game against the Tennessee Titans, throwing a pair of interceptions and struggling to move the ball down the field.
Titans vs. Jets 2013: Geno Smith struggling as Jets trail Titans at halftime
Smith has turned the ball over three times, and the Jets are in a hole as a result.
Smith was 8-of-13 for 120 yards passing and two interceptions in the first half of the game, and the Titans stormed out to a 24-6 lead as a result. The rookie also had a costly fumble on an otherwise impressive scramble.
On the other side, Jake Locker was outstanding in the first half, throwing only three incompletions and connecting with his receivers for three first-half touchdowns. Locker's most impressive touchdown came at the end of the half on a fade pass to rookie Justin Hunter, who made a spectacular catch to haul in his second touchdown in as many weeks.
Locker has shown tremendous development in his third NFL season, and the Titans have obviously benefited from that. Unless Smith has a bounce-back performance in the second half for the Jets, Tennessee may cruise to another win.
