NFL odds 2013, Week 1: Ravens vs. Broncos
The Denver Broncos have opened up as 7.5 point favorites as they look to get revenge for last year’s playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Despite winning the Super Bowl, the Ravens faced a lot of roster turnover over the offseason, as the odds line reflects. Anquan Boldin, Ray Lewis and Ed Reed are all gone, though the Ravens rebounded by signing Elvis Dumervil and drafting Matt Elam. The defending champions will have a lot of questions to answer on Thursday.
The Broncos had a potential dream season crash down in last year's epic double-overtime playoff loss. They responded by signing Wes Welker to fill out a loaded receiver corps, although one free agency loss will be felt in this game--Dumvervil was accidentally released after a fax machine snafu. The Broncos will also be without Von Miller, serving a six-game suspension, and are looking at an uncertain running game with Montee Ball, Ronnie Hillman and Knowshon Moreno all fighting for carries. They are favorites at the moment and Peyton Manning will always give them an edge, but this odds line looks incredibly generous.
