NFL odds 2013, Eagles vs. Redskins: Washington favored on Monday Night Football

The new-look Eagles will have a tough task against the three-point favorite Redskins on road.

The Eagles and Redskins will reignite their classic rivalry in Week 1 on Monday Night Football. The Eagles' new coaching staff is hoping to start the new regime's tenure with a win, while the Shanahans and their Washington Redskins are trying to prove last season's playoff berth was not a fluke. Even with Robert Griffin III coming off an ACL injury, the folks at Odds Shark are picking the Skins to pull off a three-point home victory over the Eagles.

The home team will have its best defensive player, Brian Orakpo, back from injury on Monday night and hope to unleash him against Eagles' quarterback Michael Vick. The returns of Orakpo and Griffin are a big deal for a team that is looking to go to the playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time since the early 1990's. The offense will also have the added benefit of second-year running back Alfred Morris, who combined for 165 rushing yards in two games against Philadelphia in his rookie season.

The Eagles' plan to use a quick offense to keep Washington's defense on their toes. Philadelphia's running game will be on display early and often with LeSean McCoy and Bryce Brown taking up the majority of the touches. The Eagles will use the run to open up passing lanes for tight end Brent Celek and wide receiver DeSean Jackson in an effort to create big plays. If Philadelphia's strategy works, they will walk out the winners in a tight contest after being swept by the Skins last season.
