Within the opening minutes of NFL action on the first Sunday of the year, we had three safeties. There were 13 safeties all of LAST YEAR in the NFL. Football is back!
2013 is the year of the safety
This year, the NFL is doing things two points at a time.
Then, the Jaguars blocked a Kansas City punt, and the ball went through the end zone for another safety, to make for another 2-0 scoreline.
And then, in Jets-Bucs, Josh Freeman couldn’t handle a snap, and made sure to boot it out the back of the end zone so nobody could scoop it for a score.
For a very brief time, it appeared the Steelers had managed to have another score, for a rare FOUR TO NOTHING score:

But that safety apparently got overturned. Still:
Via @eliassports -- This is the 1st season that NFL's Week 1 has had 3 or more safeties since 1999.

Safeties are the silliest way to score, and football is great.
