Cardinals NT Dan Williams has your Week 1 fat guy touchdown

The Cardinals’ big man in the middle caught a tipped ball to give his team six points and the rest of the world a glorious fat guy touchdown.

You knew that if we were going to get a fat guy touchdown this week, there was a good chance it would come from the St. Louis Rams’ season opener against the Arizona Cardinals. And sure enough, that’s where we find the latest athletic accomplishment by large men.

Sam Bradford gets the ball, rolls out and has Cardinals DE Matt Shaughnessy right in his face. Bradford throws the ball anyway. Shaughnessy tips the pass right into nose tackle Dan Williams’ arms. Williams punches it in for the touchdown.

Williams’ touchdown followed a disastrous two-penalty sequence by the Rams. St. Louis’ offensive line has struggled with the Cardinals in this game, so the fat guy touchdown was really just a matter of “when” not “if.”

And here we are, with a nose tackle crossing the goal line on behalf of portly folks everywhere.

Thanks again, Dan Williams. The world’s a better place when fat guys are scoring.
