The Dallas Cowboys flipped the script on Sunday Night Football, pulling off a Week 1 win over the New York Giants, 36-31.
Giants vs. Cowboys 2013 results: Dallas forces six turnovers in 36-31 win
Tony Romo took care of the football and led the Cowboys to a 1-0 start to the season.
Tony Romo gutted through an injury to throw a pair of touchdowns to Jason Witten, but it was the defense that really stepped up for the Cowboys. Dallas forced New York and Eli Manning into six turnovers, two of which were returned for touchdowns.
Romo, meanwhile, did a much better job taking care of the football than Manning did. The turnover ratio was ultimately the deciding factor. As Manning was driving the Giants down the field to try and tie the game late in the fourth quarter, Brandon Carr intercepted the Giants' quarterback and returned it for a touchdown, putting the finishing touches on the five-point victory.
Manning drove the Giants down the field for a touchdown in the final minute, but it was too little too late. He finished with 450 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions.
Fantasy studs and duds
Jason Witten scored two touchdowns for his fantasy owners on Sunday night, adding to a terrific day for tight ends in fantasy football.
The biggest fantasy football star of the night though, was Victor Cruz, who caught three of Manning's four touchdown passes. A good sign certainly after Cruz dealt with a heel injury throughout the preseason.
David Wilson, meanwhile, lost two fumbles, disappointing fantasy owners everywhere.
Did they cover?
The Cowboys were favored by 3.5 points, according to Odds Shark, so they covered the spread.
