Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin left the field in the first quarter with a possible concussion, but didn't remain in the locker room for long. He returned to the field and was reportedly preparing to return to the game for Seattle's next offensive series, according to Bob Condotta.
Initially it appeared Harvin would not return after he took a hit up high and slammed into the turf. Reports from the field indicated that Harvin had his helmet taken from him by team doctors, and was taken to the locker room to undergo concussion tests. However, he missed one offensive series before returning.
Harvin was attempting to catch a deep pass on third down when he was met with a high shot that drew a penalty and forced the receiver to leave the field. The hit was so violent that it knocked out Harvin’s mouthguard:
Seattle has played much of the season without Harvin's services, and it's unclear whether the early hit will influence how many opportunities he gets in the game moving forward. His addition to the team's offense gives them a big play receiver and a threat who can gain yards after the catch, but the emergence of Golden Tate in 2013 helps mitigate his loss if his role is scaled back on Saturday.
