Browns rumors: Cleveland waiting for Adam Gase, according to report

The Browns haven’t hired a coach because they’re reportedly waiting for Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase to become available for interview.

The Cleveland Browns are more than two weeks removed from their firing of Rob Chudzinski and haven't yet hired a replacement, but that is because they are waiting for Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase to become available, according to a report from Mike Klis of The Denver Post.

Gase, 35, is in his first season as the offensive coordinator of the Broncos and has reportedly told the Browns as well as the Minnesota Vikings that he will not interview for a head coaching vacancy until after Denver's season is completed. With a win against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday, the Broncos advanced to the AFC Championship where they will host the New England Patriots.

The Browns have already interviewed Packers quarterback coach Ben McAdoo, Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and former-Titans head coach Mike Munchak.

Gase spent three seasons as an assistant with the LSU Tigers before joining the Detroit Lions for five seasons, working his way up to the quarterback coach position. After one season with the San Francisco 49ers, Gase joined the Broncos in 2009 as a wide receiver coach before taking over as quarterback coach in 2011, Tim Tebow's season as starter for the team.

The Browns fired Chudzinski after a 4-12 season in 2013, his first as the team’s head coach.
