The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have several candidates nailed down for their vacant general manager position, and will be bringing them in for second interviews.
Buccaneers will have second interview with Lake Dawson, others
The Bucs are narrowing down their GM search, bringing in Lake Dawson and a handful of others for a second interview.
Among those names is Lake Dawson, the vice president of player personnel with the Tennessee Titans. Dawson just finished his seventh season with the Titans and is expected to interview with the Bucs on Wednesday. His main responsibilities in Tennessee included scouting and assisting with contract negotiations.
Dawson isn't the only one getting a second interview. FOX Sports' Alex Marvez reports that Lionel Vital will also be invited back to speak with the Bucs. Vital is the director of player personnel with the Atlanta Falcons, promoted from assistant director when Dave Caldwell left for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
A third potential candidate is Marc Ross, vice president of player operations with the New York Giants. Ross is in his first year in the position, having served six seasons as the director of college scouting.
The Bucs are still looking for someone to replace Mark Dominik, having already found a new head coach in Lovie Smith. None of the candidates listed above have any known ties with Smith, suggesting he’s willing to go in a new direction rather than re-team with previous colleagues.
