There is only one head coaching position still up for grabs in the NFL, but still plenty of other coaching and front office jobs available. The news and rumor mill continued to churn on Wednesday, but is that last head coaching availability any closer to being resolved?
NFL coaching and front office roundup: Browns interview Mike Pettine
While the head coach positions are nearly filled, there are still several open spots of various staffs across the league that need new faces.

The Cleveland Browns will interview Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine to be their next head coach, according to several sources. The Browns have already interviewed six people for the job, including Ken Whisenhunt, Josh McDaniels, and Mike Munchak, but reportedly are going to wait out until they can talk to Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase.
Pettine held several different jobs on the defensive side of the ball with the Baltimore Ravens from 2002 to 2008, before taking over as defensive coordinator for the New York Jets in 2009. During his four seasons in that position under Rex Ryan, the Jets finished first, third, fifth, and eighth in total defense. His contract expired after the 2012 season and the Bills picked him up.
Buffalo improved from 22nd in total defense to 10th.
Pettine is the third defensive coordinator to interview for the job with Cleveland, following the Seahawks' Dan Quinn and the Cardinals' Todd Bowles. Quinn is still trying to help Seattle win a championship and won't be available until his team's run is over, while Bowles removed his name from consideration.
Miami narrows GM search
The Miami Dolphins are still looking for a general manager to succeed Jeff Ireland and Albert Breer says that they plan to bring two to three candidates back for a second round of interviews before they decide. The Dolphins have reportedly interviewed Lake Dawson of the Titans, Omar Kahn of the Steelers, Jason Licht of the Cardinals, Ray Farmer of the Browns, and their current assistant GM Brian Gaine.
There could possibly be other candidates as well.
Dolphins hire Lazor as OC
In other Miami news on Wednesday, NFL.com reported that they hired Eagles QB coach Bill Lazor to be their new offensive coordinator. Lazor replaces Mike Sherman and the team hopes he can ignite the same magic in Ryan Tannehill that he did with Nick Foles last season.
Shanahan interviews for OC position in Baltimore
Meanwhile in Baltimore the Ravens have reportedly interviewed Kyle Shanahan for their vacant offensive coordinator position. Shanahan was the OC for the Redskins this season but was let go when his father was fired by the team at the end of the season. There's little doubt that Joe Flacco is a much different quarterback than Robert Griffin III, but Shanahan has experience with a variety of signal callers during his time in Washington and Houston.
The Ravens offense is in desperate need of a new look after struggling in 2013 and ranking 25th in points and 28th in total yards.
Chargers grant permission for Michael to interview in Tennessee
Finally the Tennessee Titans have received permission from the Chargers to talk with current San Diego tight ends coach Jason Michael about their offensive coordinator job. Michael has connections to the region having played college football at Western Kentucky and began his career as a graduate assistant at the University of Tennessee. He's also spent time with the Jets and 49ers.
