NFL Draft 2014: Jadeveon Clowney will fully participate in Combine

The defensive end from South Carolina is expected to wow scouts.

Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, considered by many to be the best overall athlete in the 2014 NFL draft class, will participate in all drills in the combine and allow scouts to get a closer look at the former South Carolina star, Josh Kendall from The State is reporting.

Clowney is confident the combine will increase his already sky-high draft stock, saying that “the numbers I am going to put up are going to be amazing.”

Clowney suffered through rib and foot injuries throughout the season, reportedly surprising head coach Steve Spurrier with the news that he would be unable to play in the team’s win against Kentucky (the coach later defended his star). Originally, Clowney had planned on getting offseason foot surgery, but has since changed his mind and will be available for all combine drills.

Listed at 6’6” and 274 pounds, the former blue-chip recruit is an incredible physical talent, and burst onto the scene as a sophomore with 23.5 tackles for a loss and 13 sacks. This season, amidst double teams and added pressure, he recorded 11.5 tackles for a loss and three sacks.

Clowney is expected to be one of the top picks in the upcoming NFL Draft. Our own Mocking the Draft projects him to go second overall to the St. Louis Rams.
