Browns coaching search: Mike Pettine expected to receive job offer, per report

Adam Schefter is reporting that the two sides are working out the details of a contract.

The Cleveland Browns are reportedly poised to make Mike Pettine their next head coach, ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting. The team is expected to officially offer the position to the Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator, and sorting out the details of the deal is the last obstacle.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is reporting that the two sides are currently trying to decide on the coordinators that Pettine will bring on.

Pettine arrived in Buffalo last season, helping the defense rank in the top 10 in total yards allowed. He spent the previous four seasons in the same capacity with the New York Jets.

The Browns -- who fired Rob Chudzinski after only one season at the helm -- are the last NFL team searching for a head coach. They had reportedly been waiting for Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase to finish his playoff run with Denver, but Gase withdrew his name from consideration on Tuesday. The team was also spurned by New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who was rumored to be an early favorite for the job.

On Wednesday it was reported that the team had narrowed its search down to three options: Pettine, Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and recently-fired Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano.
