Redskins interview Rich Bisaccia

The Redskins have interviewed longtime special teams coach Rich Bisaccia as their head coaching search continues.

The Washington Redskins interviewed Dallas Cowboys special teams coach Rich Bisaccia on Friday, adding another name to the mix for their head coaching vacancy.

Bisaccia has never held a head coaching position, but he's a longtime special teams expert. In his first season with the Cowboys, Dallas ranked fourth in kick return average and fifth in punt return average. They also did not allow a single touchdown on kick or punt returns. He had previous special teams stints with the San Diego Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, winning a Super Bowl ring with the Bucs in 2002. Bisaccia was also briefly hired last year by Auburn as an assistant head coach responsible for special teams and running backs before heading to Dallas.

The Redskins are still searching around for a coach to replace Mike Shanahan. In addition to Bisaccia, they interviewed Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and have requested to interview Vanderbilt's James Franklin. Washington has also expressed interest in Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer and courted Baylor's Art Briles, who turned down any NFL offers at the time.
