Knile Davis injury: Chiefs RB fractured fibula against Colts

Kansas City’s backup back did a fine job until being forced out with a nasty injury.

Rob Carr

Kansas City Chiefs running back Knile Davis heads into the offseason with a knee sprain and a broken fibula, according to Arrowhead Pride.

Davis filled in for Jamaal Charles in the Chiefs wild 45-44 Wild Card loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday afternoon. Charles sustained a concussion during the game's first series, giving the rookie from Arkansas his opportunity.

Davis was terrific throughout, running hard and scoring two touchdowns to help Kansas City build a 38-10 lead in the third quarter. Of course, then the nightmare began for the Chiefs and their fans. Davis finished with 100 yards of offense, with 33 coming in the passing game.

While the timetable for his return is unclear, head coach Andy Reid believes he should be fine and ready to go for the upcoming 2014 season. A third round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, Davis is expected to serve as thunder to Charles' lightning.
