Hue Jackson will replace Jay Gruden as Bengals OC, per report

With Gruden off to coach the Redskins, the Bengals are expected to hire in-house for their next offensive coordinator.

With Jay Gruden heading to Washington as the next head coach of the Redskins, the Cincinnati Bengals are looking to fill a void at offensive coordinator. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, they plan to do so by promoting current running backs coach Hue Jackson.

Jackson, who has served in various capacities in his 13 seasons coaching in the NFL, joined the Bengals as a secondary coach in 2012. He coached the running backs this season while also serving as special assistant to head coach Marvin Lewis.

Jackson has had offensive coordinator stints with the Redskins, the Atlanta Falcons and the Oakland Raiders. He spent one season as the Raiders' head coach in 2011, leading them to an 8-8 record.

It's likely the Bengals will also have to fill a hole at defensive coordinator soon. Current DC Mike Zimmer is another popular candidate for head coaching vacancies around the league and is rumored to be the favorite for the Minnesota Vikings gig, per Schefter.
