A bad night just got even worse for the New York Giants. Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz was carted off the field after suffering a torn patellar tendon. Cruz suffered the injury as he was going up for a potential touchdown in the back corner of the end zone. He immediately grabbed his right knee and fell to the ground.

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz was forced out of the game against the Eagles with a torn patellar tendon.

Cruz was quickly diagnosed with a torn patellar tendon, according to NBC’s Michele Tafoya. The Giants later confirmed the diagnosis. He had 321 yards coming into the game, including a pair of 100-yard performances early in the season. He recorded two catches for 16 yards before suffering the injury. Although the injury may not have been obvious watching the play, it was on the field. Cruz immediately clutched at his knee with Tafoya adding it was apparent he was in extreme pain.

The injury will require surgery and almost certainly keep Cruz out for the rest of the season. He will likely be placed on injured reserve. With Cruz injured, the Giants will rely on Rueben Randle and rookie first-round pick Odell Beckham at wide receiver.
