Ryan Tannehill is off to a torrid start against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, going 19-for-21 for 208 yards and two touchdowns to help the Miami Dolphins to a 21-7 lead in the fourth quarter. He also has 50 yards rushing in four carries.
Ryan Tannehill is tearing up the Bears
Ryan Tannehill is carving up the Chicago Bears on Sunday, and is on pace for one of the highest single-game completion percentages in NFL history.
Tannehill started the game 18-for-19 passing, which equaled Alex Smith’s numbers when he set the NFL’s single-game completion percentage record in 2012. Tannehill could put himself in good company if he stay’s on pace with his current 90.5 completion percentage.
His 50 yards, half of which came on a 25-yard run on the Dolphins’ third scoring drive, also made him the game’s leading rusher to that point, besting Matt Forte’s 44 yards on nine carries.
The performance is notable given Tannehill’s struggles this season. Head coach Joe Philbin suggested that Tannehill’s starting job was up for grabs before the quarterback named himself the starter before Week 4. It also doesn’t bode well for a Bears defense that is still disappointing after a major offseason overhaul.
