NFL scores and results: Patriots, Broncos impress in Week 5

Another entertaining NFL Sunday is in the books. New England rebounded with a resounding win while the Broncos also impressed against a stout Arizona team.

Week 5 has already been a smash success. All but one game in the early slate finished within one score. Two games went into overtime, including a much anticipated bout between the Houston Texans and the Dallas Cowboys.

The two teams were both 3-1 heading into a Lone Star State showdown on Sunday. The Cowboys came out on top thanks to a poised performance by Tony Romo and another monster outing out of DeMarco Murray. The defense forced a Texans punt in overtime, then Romo hit Dez Bryant on a bomb to set up Dan Bailey’s game-winning 49-yard field goal.

The Giants’ new-look offense looked good once again, more than keeping up with the high-powered Falcons in a 30-20 win. Eli Manning looked comfortable in the West Coast scheme last week as well, and appears to be on his way to a resurgent season coming off a horrid 2013 and a slow start to 2014.

There was plenty more fun in the evening. Arizona’s undefeated season ended at the hands of another brilliant Peyton Mannign performance. In Chiefs-49ers, the Niners’ running game help San Francisco win a war of attrition, and spoil Alex Smith’s revenge bid against Jim Harbaugh.

Coming up on Sunday night, the New England Patriots will attempt to stave off collapse against a confident Cincinnati Bengals team.
