Nick Foles injury: Eagles QB out indefinitely with broken collarbone, per report

The Philadelphia Eagles will be without Nick Foles for the foreseeable future after he was injured on Sunday.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles broke his collarbone on Sunday and will be out indefinitely, according to a report from Derrick Gunn of CSN Philadelphia. According to Gunn, Foles will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine how long he will be sidelined.

Foles completed 10 of 13 passes for 124 yards against the Houston Texans before getting hit by linebacker Whitney Mercilus on the last play of the first quarter. Foles went back to the locker room and was ruled out the rest of the game not long after. Foles has thrown for 2,163 yards this season, with 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Foles was replaced by backup quarterback and former New York Jet Mark Sanchez. Sanchez threw for 202 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in a 31-21 win for Philadelphia. The Eagles are 6-2 and in first place in the NFC East. Sanchez will presumably take over the starting role moving forward, with second-year quarterback Matt Barkley moving into the backup role.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a similar injury last season and missed seven games. Depending on the severity of Foles' injury, he could be in line for a similar recovery. If that were the case, Foles would likely be in line to return late in the regular season and be healthy for the playoffs should the Eagles qualify.

The Eagles will host the Carolina Panthers next week on Monday Night Football before traveling to Green Bay on Nov. 16.
