When the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns fight for the top spot in the AFC North on Thursday night, Bengals running back Giovani Bernard will be watching from the sidelines. Bernard will miss his second straight contest with multiple injuries, allowing rookie Jeremy Hill to start, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Bengals RB Giovani Bernard out vs. Browns
The second-year back will be sidelined for a second consecutive game for Cincinnati.
Cincinnati had no issues moving the ball on Sunday in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars without Bernard, and now faces a worse run defense in Cleveland. The Browns check in with the 31st-ranked unit against the run, allowing 140.3 yards per game on the ground. Last week, Cincinnati rushed for 191 yards, with Hill going for 154 on 24 carries. The rookie out of LSU also found the end zone twice.
Bernard leads the team with 446 rushing yards on 4.1 yards per carry and five touchdowns. He has also been a threat to catch passes out of the backfield with 22 receptions for 179 yards.
