Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball is listed as inactive against the Oakland Raiders at O.co Coliseum Sunday, according to the Denver Post's Mike Klis. Ball has not played since Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals, when he left with a groin injury. In his absence, Ronnie Hillman has stepped up and secured the starting job.
Montee Ball inactive vs. Raiders
The Broncos look to bounce back against the Raiders, but will not have Ball to help shoulder the load.
With the way Hillman has played, Ball could have a hard time regaining the starting spot when he returns. Hillman is averaging 4.3 yards per carry to Ball’s 3.1, while Hillman has also secured a pair of 100-yard rushing games over the past four weeks. The Broncos need any type of rushing production they can get to supplement Peyton Manning’s aerial circus, ranking 27th in the league at 94.1 yards per game.
Ball’s absence should not matter much this week against a Raiders team that is 0-8. Oakland has not been able to stop the run in almost any game, allowing 132.5 rushing yards per game, 27th in the league.
