Fred Jackson active for Bills vs. Chiefs

The Bills will have their veteran rusher back in a big AFC showdown Sunday.

Buffalo running back Fred Jackson is active for the Bills' Week 10 home game against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to Ian Rapoport on NFL Network's GameDay Morning. Jackson, who missed one game with a groin injury, was limited in practice earlier in the week and listed as questionable Friday.

Having Jackson in the lineup is a big positive for the Buffalo offense, which has found new life with quarterback Kyle Orton. The rushing game may be the best way to attack the Chiefs, too, as no team has allowed fewer passing yards.

Rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins leads the Bills in all major receiving categories, and even though he is active Sunday, he is also struggling with a groin injury, so Jackson is likely Buffalo's best option against Kansas City. The Chiefs rank 19th in the NFL at stopping the run, and while the team has yet to allow a rushing touchdown, only three defenses have allowed more yards per rushing attempt.

Jackson sat through Week 8 and most of Week 7, and the Bills struggled to run the ball with Anthony Dixon at running back. Dixon managed just 44 rushing yards on 22 attempts in Week 8 against the Jets and 51 yards on 13 attempts in relief of Jackson in the week prior.
