New Texans QB Tom Savage is struggling to hand the ball off

Even the easy parts of QB are pretty hard.

Ryan Fitzpatrick went down with an injury in the Texans’ matchup with the Colts, and with Ryan Mallett already out for the year, rookie Tom Savage went in at QB. As expected, Houston has primarily asked him to hand the ball off to Arian Foster. But even that’s been a bit of a struggle.

First he tried depositing the ball into Foster’s side, which unlike his hands, is incapable of holding things:

Then, there was some miscommunciation between Savage and Foster (GIF via Deadspin)

To be fair to Savage, the blocking on this play makes it look like Foster is the one who went the wrong way.

Savage has been okay throwing the ball, as he’s 6-of-9 passing with 88 yards, but the Texans’ only touchdown was scored on defense.
