T.Y. Hilton inactive vs. Cowboys

Hilton is dealing with a hamstring injury and will miss his first game of the season.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is officially inactive Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. Hilton suffered a hamstring injury in Week 15 against the Houston Texans and was listed as questionable on Friday after three straight missed practices.

In his third season, Hilton is having a career year and is currently ranked fourth in the NFL in receiving yards. He leads Indianapolis with 82 receptions for 1,345 yards, and is second on the team with seven touchdowns. The Colts clinched the AFC South title last week, meaning the Colts could be cautious with their top receiver. Head coach Chuck Pagano told reporters that Hilton would only play if he was 100 percent, so his absence will allow him to time to recover from the hamstring tweak.

With Hilton out of the lineup, rookie Donte Moncrief will likely see an increased amount of snaps in the Indianapolis offense. The third-round pick racked up big numbers against Washington and the Pittsburgh Steelers, but has been used little in the Colts' offense otherwise.

The Colts are playing only for playoff seeding in the final two weeks with a pair of road games against the Cowboys and Tennessee Titans. The team is currently slated to have the No. 3 seed, but could still earn a first-round bye ahead of the New England Patriots or Denver Broncos.
