Jim Harbaugh’s future ‘swinging a little bit to Michigan,’ per report

The destination of the current 49ers’ head coach is still unknown, but things currently appear to be pointing toward the University of Michigan.

The only certainty when it comes to Jim Harbaugh's coaching future appears to be that it won't be in San Francisco. Harbaugh will likely coach his last game with the 49ers Sunday and where he lands after that remains unclear. The University of Michigan reportedly offered $8 million per season and Harbaugh may be leaning toward accepting it, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

During an appearance on ESPN, Schefter said the "pendulum is swinging a little bit to Michigan" according to mgoblog. The Chicago Bears and Oakland Raiders have also been linked to Harbaugh, but according to Schefter, sources believe the race will come down to Michigan or the Raiders. No matter what decision Harbaugh makes, it will likely come soon. The 49ers will reportedly part ways with the coach within 48 hours of their season finale Sunday.

Harbaugh has had significant success at both the collegiate and NFL level. There are a lot of reasons NFL coaches rarely make the jump back to college, but Harbaugh may be the exception. In 2013, he said Ann Arbor was his “favorite place to live” and family and friends have reportedly encouraged him to take the Michigan job. He could also make the move without a pay cut with the $48 million offer reportedly on the table.

As for Harbaugh, he isn’t saying much.
