NFL picks and predictions, Bills vs. Broncos 2014: Denver heavy favorite at home

The Broncos look to hold off the playoff-hopeful Bills to remain in the hunt for the AFC’s top seed.

The Denver Broncos continue their push for the AFC's top seed when they host the playoff-hopeful Buffalo Bills in Week 14. Denver is coming off a convincing 29-16 win at Kansas City last week, giving the Broncos a two-game lead over the Chiefs in the AFC West, but the 8-4 San Diego Chargers are just one game behind.

Needless to say, Denver still has work to do just to clinch its division for the fourth straight season. The 9-3 Broncos are tied with the New England Patriots for the AFC's best record, though the Pats have the head-to-head win over Denver. That means the Broncos will likely need to finish a full game better than New England to claim the No. 1 seed.

As for Buffalo, it would be thrilled just to make it to the playoffs for the first time in over a decade. Sitting at 7-5, the Bills are tied with five other teams for the final wild card spot in the AFC. They probably need to win three of their final four games to make it to the playoffs, which means they’ll need to pull off a massive upset either at Denver or at New England in Week 17.

Both teams feature elite defenses, so this could be a low-scoring affair. The Bills rank fifth in total defense, while the Broncos are just ahead of them at No. 3. Both teams also thrive at stopping the run -- Denver ranks second in run defense, compared to Buffalo at No. 7.

So, what are the experts saying about this one?

ESPN is mostly going with Denver, as everyone but Mike Ditka sided with the Broncos. The CBS crew unanimously picked Denver, with all eight experts believing the Broncos will win this matchup.

OddsShark has the Broncos as 10-point favorites at Mile High with an over/under of 47.5. The team at SB Nation is all in on the Broncos with a clean sweep.
