Training camp ended before it could even begin for Aaron Ross, as the Baltimore Ravens cornerback tore his Achilles tendon while attempting to complete a conditioning test, head coach John Harbaugh announced on Thursday.
Aaron Ross tears Achilles during conditioning test
The injury to Aaron Ross will open up competition at the nickel position for the Ravens.

Ross, 31, signed a one-year, $855,000 contract this offseason after playing in only four games with the New York Giants last season before being placed on injured reserve with a back injury. He was expected to provide depth at cornerback in addition to competing for the nickel spot. Instead, he will likely miss the entirety of the 2014-15 campaign.
With Ross out of contention, it's believed that Chykie Brown and Dominique Franks will be the front-runners for the nickel position. Franks has yet to complete his conditioning test and was unable to practice on Thursday.
Ross was originally selected with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Giants. He spent five seasons with the team and then played a single season with the Jacksonville Jaguars before returning to the Giants in 2013. Unfortunately, that return was short-lived due to his back injury.
