The NFL Network will feature former Washington safety Sean Taylor in an upcoming episode of A Football Life, a documentary series that highlights players and other personalities who have impacted the game of football. The episode featuring Taylor is scheduled to air on Sept. 26.

Taylor died in Nov. 2007 when intruders broke into his Miami home and shot him. He was only 24 at the time, in the middle of his fourth NFL season.

As a college freshman, he was part of the Miami Hurricanes team that won the 2001 National Championship. Taylor earned first team All-American honors in 2003, his last year at Miami, as well as being named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year.

Washington made him the fifth overall pick of the 2004 NFL Draft, and he quickly became a fan favorite. Taylor made the Pro Bowl twice, including a posthumous nod after his death in 2007. No Washington player has worn the No. 21, Taylor’s number, since his death.

Eric Rivera, Jr., the first suspect to be tried for Taylor’s murder, was convicted of second-degree murder and armed burglary in 2013. He was sentenced to 57 years in prison two months later. In June 2014, Jason Scott Mitchell received a life sentence for Taylor’s murder. Three other suspects are still awaiting trial.
