Marquess Wilson has fractured collarbone

The expected No. 3 receiver for the Bears took a hard fall in practice on Monday.

Marquess Wilson, who was expected to take over as the Chicago Bears' No. 3 wide receiver, has suffered a fractured collarbone, according to Michael C. Wright of ESPN.

There has been no official word on how long Wilson will be out. The recovery time for a broken collarbone varies: Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers missed seven weeks last season; New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marques Colston missed just three weeks in 2011.

Wilson took a hard fall while trying to haul in a deep pass in practice and was carted off.

With veteran Earl Bennett having departed as a cap casualty, Wilson, a second-year pro, was expected to fill in at the slot position between Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery.

Bears blog Windy City Gridiron discussed his potential impact late last month.

I expect Marquess Wilson to grab a hold of the third WR spot after an offseason spent working out at Marshall’s training facility in Florida. He’s bigger and stronger and at 6’3 he’s another receiver with a large catch radius. While I’m hopeful he can be the guy, I’d like to see him on the field before I anoint him the number three.
