Tavon Austin leaves game with knee injury

Tavon Austin suffered a knee injury against the Buccaneers on Sunday.

Tavon Austin is questionable to return to Sunday's game between the St. Louis Rams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after suffering a first quarter knee injury. The wideout took an awkward hit after dropping a pass, and grabbed his knee after it bent awkwardly as he went to the ground.

Austin had already picked 21 yards rushing on two carries before leaving the game. He is expected to become a bigger part of the Rams’ offense this season after a somewhat disappointing rookie campaign, assuming he remains healthy. He was able to walk off the field under his own power, so that’s good news for St. Louis.

Austin's loss for any extended period of time would be a major blow to the Rams, who were unlucky with injuries in the offseason. During the preseason, the team lost starting quarterback Sam Bradford for the year with a torn ACL.

Austin is just one of several big-name players to leave Week 2 matchups. Robert Griffin III, A.J. Green, DeSean Jackson, Knowshon Moreno and Jamaal Charles highlight what has been an injury-riddled day.
