Ryan Mathews carted off with apparent leg injury vs. Seahawks
Ryan Mathews was forced to leave Sunday’s game on a cart after getting hit on the leg while trying to recover a fumble. He is questionable to return.
Mathews had been having a quiet day before leaving. A stout Seahawks defense had held him to 31 yards on 11 carries on the ground, and two receptions for 26 yards. The fumble was the team’s third of the day, but all were recovered by the Chargers.
San Diego is nursing a 27-21 lead in the fourth quarter. Mathews’ absence could be a big blow as the Chargers attempt to grind out a win over the defending Super Bowl champions. Primary rushing responsibilities now likely fall on Danny Woodhead and Donald Brown. The two have combined for 50 yards on 11 carries.
