As has been the case for several years running, the NFL closes its first week of play with a Monday night double-header: New York Giants vs. Detroit Lions, then San Diego Chargers vs. Arizona Cardinals.
Monday Night Football: TV schedule and how to watch Giants vs. Lions and Chargers vs. Cardinals online
How will Eli Manning and the new-look Giants offense fare against the Lions’ stout defensive line? Also, will there even be a Chargers-Cardinals matchup?

The first game features a New York team with a revamped offensive system and a rebuilt offensive line taking on a talented but underutilized Detroit roster that hopes to improve with new headman Jim Caldwell at the controls.
The second game features two teams that were on the ragged edge of the playoff picture a year ago. Arizona finished with a 10-6 record, but failed to quality for the postseason due to the strength of the Seahawks and 49ers in their division. San Diego, meanwhile, snuck into the playoffs with an 8-8 record and they hope to compete for the AFC West this year. However, intense flash flooding in the Phoenix area may make it difficult to get the game started on time if the stadium is a lonely island.
