Michael Bennett fined $20,000 for demolition of Andy Dalton

Bennett drew his third fine of the 2015 season for needlessly picking on Andy Dalton.

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett was given a $20,000 fine on Friday for the unnecessary roughness penalty he received in Week 5 against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

The fine is Bennett's third of the 2015 season after he was docked $8,681 for fighting in Week 2 against the Green Bay Packers, and also received a $17,363 fine for roughing Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith in preseason.

Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton threw an interception in the final minute of the first half and Bennett took advantage of the return as a time to bully the passer a bit.

It drew a personal foul which proved costly, wiping out a 68-yard return for Earl Thomas that would have put the Seahawks deep in Cincinnati territory, instead leaving Seattle on its own 18-yard line. The Seahawks drove 76 yards, but settled for a 24-yard field goal as time expired in the half.

Bennett signed a four-year, $28.5 million contract with the Seahawks just prior to becoming a free agent in the 2014 season. He is one of the NFL's more colorful personalities who has previously gone for a bike ride on the sideline, and told reporters earlier in October that he holds the assassination of President John F. Kennedy against Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford.
