NFL picks and predictions, Steelers vs. Chiefs 2015: Experts picking Pittsburgh despite QB uncertainty

Landry Jones might be starting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but that hasn’t stopped experts from picking them over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are sitting at 4-2 on the season, despite suffering several injuries at the ever-important quarterback position. Ben Roethlisberger has been out since sustaining an injury in Week 3, and he was replaced by Mike Vick. In the team's last game against the Arizona Cardinals, Vick himself was replaced by third-string quarterback Landry Jones.

Jones went on to lead the Steelers to a win over the Cardinals, and with both Roethlisberger and Vick still on the mend, he's preparing as though he will start against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7. Pittsburgh's offense has been a roller coaster this season, ranking first in yards per game through the first two weeks of the season, but closer to the bottom of the league since Roethlisberger went down with the injury.

The Steelers went from averaging 458.5 yards per game to 295.3 since Roethlisberger has been out. But Jones played well against the Cardinals, completing 8 of 12 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. The Chiefs will be preparing for Jones to start, and that game will be all of the tape they have on him, at least when it comes to the NFL regular season. The Arizona game was his first real action as a pro, as he's primarily been the third-string quarterback since the Steelers selected him in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

What the Steelers will look like without Roethlisberger or Vick is still a big question mark, but they're no doubt hoping they can get wide receiver Antonio Brown more involved in the offense. He has just 11 receptions for 111 yards with no touchdowns in the team's last three games, despite being one of the top receivers in the NFL.

Brown will have to contend with a Kansas City defense that ranks just 24th in the league in yards allowed. The unit ranks No. 26 in the league in passing yards allowed is surrendering 26.5 points per game. Offensively, the Chiefs don’t fare much better, ranking 18th in the league, two spots below the Steelers.

But the experts are mostly in agreement on this one. The Steelers, who have played well despite the injuries of late, are the favorite. Over at CBS Sports, five of the eight experts are going with the Steelers to win it. It’s a majority at ESPN, as well.

The case is the same here at SB Nation, where only PFT Commenter and the OddsShark computer think Kansas City will win it.
