Vincent Jackson not expected to play vs. Falcons in Week 8

Jackson suffered a knee injury in Week 7 and did not return.

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Vincent Jackson is not expected to play in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons after suffering a knee injury in a loss to Washington in Week 7, according to NFL.com.

Jackson left the team’s game on Sunday after suffering the injury and was announced as questionable to return, but never did. Jackson caught one pass for 13 yards and was targeted twice before he left the game in the second half.

Going into Sunday, Jackson led the Buccaneers with 20 catches for 306 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The team hasn't had much of a passing offense with Jameis Winston under center, as he's completed just 56.6 percent of his passes for 1,174 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions on the season.

Behind Jackson, the next-leading receiver is backup running back Charles Sims, who has caught 14 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns. Mike Evans, listed as the starter opposite Jackson, has caught 13 passes for 174 yards with no touchdowns. Louis Murphy is the third receiver on the field and he has 169 receiving yards on the season.

Jackson is playing his 11th season in the NFL and his fourth with the Buccaneers. He has put up over 1,000 yards in each of the past four seasons.
