The Oakland Raiders and New York Jets have been struggling teams for a long time, but both seem to be on the right track as we approach the halfway point of the 2015 season. The Jets are 4-2 on the season, coming off a tough loss against the AFC East rival New England Patriots, while the Raiders are 3-3 riding the strong play of young players like Derek Carr and Amari Cooper.
NFL picks and predictions, Jets vs. Raiders 2015: Experts mainly favor New York
The experts think the Jets will come up with a bounce-back win on Sunday.
The Jets were one of the worst teams in the league last season, but this season they have already managed to match their entire win total from 2014. There was even some thought that Todd Bowles' team would be able to hang with the Patriots in the division. But in their biggest test of the season, the Jets fell to the Patriots, though it took a late touchdown to secure the New England victory.
The Raiders picked up a couple of quality wins early in the season, but faltered when they lost consecutive games to the Chicago Bears and Denver Broncos. They kept it close against the Broncos, but they were unable to overcome their AFC West rivals. In their most recent outing, though, the Raiders dominated the San Diego Chargers, another division rival that has consistently beaten them in recent years.
The Jets and Raiders both own wins over bad-to-average teams, but have lost to the elite teams they have faced. Although the experts aren’t totally committed to either team when it comes to predicting the outcome of this game, the road team has the advantage.
Over at CBS Sports, five of the eight panelists picked the Jets to win it. At ESPN, eight of the 13 experts are rolling with the Jets to come out on top. It's a similar spread here at SB Nation, where just two of our eight pickers are going with the Raiders at home.
